welcome to charcodelvalle.com
Charco del Valle means 'pool valley' in English, and is
situated in Los Menores ('the minors') a village about 2 kilometres west of
Adeje on the Canary Island of Tenerife.
Tenerife, along with La Palma,
Gran Canaria, Feuteventura and Lanzarote all lie off the coast of West Africa, just above
the Tropic of Cancer. The climate is semi-tropical, but extraordinarily mild, with all-year-round temperatures
between 20 and 30 degrees Celcius.
Charco del Valle is actually an
urbanisation of a few hundred townhouses, built around 2002 on what was once a
banana plantation.
Los Menores is next to Las Rosas, and above Armeņime, which
is a very old town in the municipality of Adeje. Los Menores lies some
300 metres above sea level, and most homes in Charco Del Valle enjoy an
uninterrupted panoramic view of the Atlantic ocean, dominated by La Gomera,
about 25 kilometres distant. On clear days, you can also see El
Hierro and La Palma islands - both some 60km distant.
Charco del Valle
is on the southwestern part of Tenerife, with very little rain, and semi-desert
terrain. The main trans-Tenerife motorway (the TF1) ends at a roundabout,
where after about 1km, the main road TF82 passes Las Rosas and Charco del
Valle. By car, it takes about 10 minutes to reach Costa Adeje, and
about 20 minutes to reach the main resorts; Playa de las Americas and Los
Christianos. You can also drive to the summit of Tenerife's main
volcano; Mount Teide in about an hour. This takes you above the clouds to the caldera, over 2100 metres high.
